The honorable people of Sistan and Baluchistan province have been facing the problem of water shortage for many years and unfortunately this problem is more obvious in the villages in the south of the province.

The climate of Sistan and Baluchistan province is such that floods occur several times during each year and the water from the rains in some villages is collected in pits. Hotag or Hotak is the name of a relatively large artificial or natural pit where water is directed and used for drinking and agricultural purposes throughout the year. The construction of Hotag in Baluchistan started from very ancient times and the pits were dug with different geometric shapes and depth of 5 to 20 meters, which was built by the natives on a fine-grained land and around it an earth wall with a height of about one to two meters. But the problems with Hotaqs are divided into two main parts, health and safety. Apart from the fact that this water is not of good quality for drinking and it is also a carrier of some gastrointestinal and blood diseases, unfortunately children have fallen and drowned while filling water in their containers.

MahTaab Sazan Iranian Charity Foundation, with the financial support of MahTaab Group colleagues and companies and some of other supporters, while defining a project called “Dar Masire Abadi” means “On the Way to Development” , started water supply in the southern region of Sistan and Baluchistan in May 2021.

In the first phase of this project, the Mahtaab Sazan Foundation had installed and commissioned equipment for harvesting and sanitizing water and constructing a 2,200 meter pipeline to supply water to 14 villages in the cities of Chabahar and Konarak, and through this, more than 11,000 people have benefited from safe and drinkable water.

Also, for the implementation of this project, in addition to local forces, the necessary coordination and cooperation with local organizations such as the governorate, water and sewage company and village councils was also on the agenda.

The Objectives of implementation of this plan are:

  • Providing safe drinking water for honorable compatriots in the southern villages of Sistan and Baluchistan province
  • Securing the hotspots while installing the pumping station and moving the harvest point to a safe place
